In-House Workshops on Communication

Increasingly demanding communicative tasks challenge employees considerably. Industry-specific communication, new tools, and models of New Work demand increased written and spoken communication skills. Employees must communicate efficiently and professionally with colleagues and clients, yet unclear language can lead to misunderstandings and written tasks often take too long. In our seminars, your employees learn the communicative skills they need in practice for them to do their job efficiently and in a way that fosters a good team spirit.

All in-house workshops can be carried out in English, German, or both; more languages are possible on request.

Diversity has not only become a must but also a lived reality, and it concerns all areas of communication. Yet, linguistic regulations regarding gender-neutral and inclusive language change continuously, and they vary among languages. In addition, each company and each institution has its own conditions regarding the implementation of such guidelines. In our seminars, we train your team in applying linguistic diversity rules and advise them on finding creative solutions that meet the requirements of both, official as well as the company’s regulations.

Describing observations in reports and documenting conversations as minutes are tasks that require different kinds of skill. Their content must be concise while their language must be precise. Yet, employees who have to write reports and minutes regularly usually don’t have a particular affinity for language and invest a considerable amount of time in getting written tasks done. We practice with your team how to get written reports and minutes done fast and efficiently with concrete examples and your own internal documents.

The language of experts should not evaluate, but in fact describe a state-of-affair in neutral words and without bias. This sounds simple, yet it is difficult to achieve in practice. In our seminars, we have a close look at challenging texts and topics to spot hidden evaluative language and to practice how to avoid it in the future.

Communication in English is becoming increasingly indispensable. Almost all areas and industries require communication in English. We prepare your team efficiently for working in English and practice specific settings and situations, in which correct English is particularly important. We also highlight the differences between communication conventions in English and German to make multilingualism a true enrichment.

Digital and international communication require specific communicative skills. It is important to communicate clearly and explicitly to avoid misunderstandings, both internally with colleagues and externally with clients. Particularly when speakers of other languages are involved, misunderstandings emerge quickly. At the same time, respect must be expressed in language so conflicts can be avoided. For your team to manage communicative challenges in discussions, meetings, and written communication, we practice them with real-life and relevant examples.

In-House Workshops on Intercultural Competence

Each company has people of different origins among their staff, clientele, or both. Cultural diversity empowers companies by fostering innovation and opening up new market potential. At the same time, it challenges companies because different views and languages may lead to misunderstandings and conflicts that are not caused by different personalities but cultures. A well-developed affinity for cultural differences is thus indispensable in today’s world, yet due to cultural diversity, it is also often difficult to get competent consulting and training in this area. Thanks to our vast experience and expertise, we successfully train companies and international teams on intercultural competences to help them reach their full potential.

All in-house workshops on intercultural competence can take place in English, German, or Spanish; additional languages are possible on request.

When people of different cultural and linguistic backgrounds work together, different world views and types of knowledge come together. Companies can turn this diverse knowledge into innovation and creativity and thus substantially increase their potential. Yet to fully exploit this potential, awareness and appreciation of cultural differences is necessary, in addition to clear indications on to how to cooperate in diverse teams. Most of the emerging challenges are related to language, particularly when team members speak different mother tongues or dialects. In our seminars, we help intercultural companies sensitize their staff and discuss diversity on the basis of real-life and industry-based examples to show concrete possibilities of productive cooperation.

Leaders of international teams face increased communicative challenges. The presence of different languages and dialects in a team not only makes communication more difficult, it also affects the perception of hierarchies and the way how tasks and proposals are given. In order to unleash the full potential of your team, it is important to ensure everybody feels understood. In our seminars, we advise leaders with real-life examples and advice on how to motivate international teams to exceed by communicating in a clear and interculturally competent way.

There are many prejudices on what “typically Swiss” is like. The Swiss are said to speak a “cute” language and be reserved. Yet, is this actually true, and if so, how does it affect the way people communicate and behave? Most cultural challenges are in fact related to language, because the Swiss don’t just speak one language, but many different dialects, which are all connected to their own cultural practices. In our seminars, we give competent and practical insights into cultural differences among the Swiss and other cultures, which simplify and enrich cooperation in Switzerland.

Individual members of a diverse staff understand company values differently because each culture has a different understanding of collaboration, hierarchies, and communication. For an international company to be successful in the long term, it is vital to reach all members of staff and make company culture accessible for all. We help you define the specific shape your company culture should take and transmit it to your staff in interactive, interculturally competent seminars.
