Communication Workshop for the ICT Department
Communication between IT Specialists and their Partners
Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of giving another workshop at Flughafen Zürich AG. This time, I worked with the ICT department on how communication between IT specialists and their partners can be streamlined linguistically.
“I understand everything here, what could possibly be unclear?”, was an honest question raised when we looked at an internal announcement.
Indeed, usually it’s just about some details that seem trivial like a little ditch in the road. But just like that ditch in the road, these details slow everything down. So we looked at emails, announcements, and management summaries, and at how to adjust them for non-specialists.
The day was truly inspiring! My personal highlight was the moment right after lunch when I started speaking Spanish instead of German, an intermezzo I had set up with a Spanish team member. The other team members immediately joined in making jokes and ordering “cervezas”, and their reaction was so dynamic that I actually had to interrupt them. That moment showed how great a team they are and how easy it is to resume work in good spirits!
